(George Lin, KFYI News) Valley banks and credit unions are paying some of the lowest interest rates in the country.

A new survey from GoBankingRates.com of more than 4,000 American financial institutions show interest rates on the money of Arizonans is near the bottom nationwide for every category.

GoBankingRates editor Jennifer Calonia says this is significant, since total savings for account holders are the lowest in the nation.

Colonia says anticipated economic growth in the Valley isn't expect to be very strong in the immediate future, meaning financial institutions will continue leveraging the money of their customers for significant profit.
