A Petition to Replace Confederate Memorial with a Chadwick Boseman Statue

There's a Petition going around asking that a CHADWICK BOSEMAN statue be constructed in his hometown of Anderson, South Carolina.

But there's a catch . . . the petition demands that it replace a 118-year-old Confederate memorial, which has an inscription that says, quote, "The world shall yet decide in truth's clear far off light, that the soldiers who wore the gray and died with [General] Lee were in the right."

That Confederate memorial was vandalized back in June, and some locals HAVE tried to get it removed, since it's on public land in the middle of the town.

But the change is a long-shot, because it's currently illegal to remove or alter monuments dedicated to Confederate war efforts in the state of South Carolina.

Those laws would have to be repealed . . . then the town could put the removal proposal on a local ballot . . . and THEN they'd have to approve a new statue of Chadwick. So, yeah, it's probably not happening overnight.

The mayor of Anderson said they're planning tributes . . . but he didn't mention anything about a statue or the Confederate memorial
