Ariana Grande's Ode to Pete Davidson Was Even Sweeter Than We Thought

Despite the fact that Ariana Grande broke off her engagement to Pete Davidson in October, we still think her ode to him on Sweetener is one of the, well, sweetest songs. And it just got even sweeter.

As E! News reports, an eagle-eyed fan spotted a hidden tribute layered into "Pete Davidson." As Ari sings "I thought you into my life (Whoa), look at my mind (Yuh)/ No better place or a time, (Look) how they align/ Universe must have my back, fell from the sky into my lap/ And I know you know that you're my soulmate and all that/ I’m like ooh, ooh, my whole life got me ready for you, ooh, ooh" the chord progression is B, A, E, spelling out the word "bae." TOO. CUTE.

Even though they're no longer an item, the pop star still cares for her Saturday Night Live ex. After he shared a lengthy post about bullying, she urged her fans to "be gentler with others" and admitted she will always have "irrevocable love" for him. She even apologized for "dipping" on their wedding in her recent, record-breaking "thank u, next" video and dropped an easter egg in the form of the "BDE" package delivery man, referring to her ex-fiance's "Big Dick Energy."

While accepting her award for Billboard's Woman of the Year earlier this week, the singer confessed that 2018 was both one of the best years in her career and worst in her life before vowing to focus on self-love in 2019.

“I look forward to hopefully learning to give some of the love and forgiveness that I’ve given away so frivolously and easily to men in the past to myself hopefully this year," she said. "I have everything I’ve ever dreamt of having and as of late I’ve discovered that it’s the things I’ve always had and the people I’ve always had that still make me the happiest.”
