Coca-Cola is a massive global company that sells soft drinks and water but now they are getting into the coffee business. They just purchased a huge coffee company, Costa Coffee, for $5.1 billion that will compete with Starbucks. Costa is also a UK company that has plans to expand overseas!
With the acquisition of the second-largest coffee chain in the world, Coca-Cola just became a relevant coffeehouse player in virtually every continent, save for North and South America. They are looking at expanding the chain, though, meaning that Costa Coffee locations are likely heading to the United States very soon.
This will be interesting to see how the coffee game will change down the road!
