6 Ingredients Found In Candy, Gum, & Soda Have Been Banned By The FDA

Now is great time to crack down on what you or your kiddos are choosing to consume this Halloween season!

The Food and Drug Administration  (FDA) as of last week banned 6 ingredients found in candy, gum, soda and more because they can cause cancer in animals if they accidentally grab it.

The ingredients include synthetically-derived benzophenone (which can be found in rubber reusable food containers), ethyl acrylate, eugenyl methyl ether (methyl eugenol), myrcene, pulegone, and pyridine, which aren't specifically listed on labels because they fall under the umbrella of proprietary "artificial flavors" that manufacturers don't have to release, according to the petition that led to the FDA's ruling.

These products create flavors like pineapple, cinnamon, mint and more. I know they are a lot of big words up there by get to know them so you can recognize them when you look at the ingredients on the wrappers before consuming.

The FDA's decision is based on data gathered by the United States Department of Health and Human Services' National Toxicology Program, which proved the ingredients caused cancer in laboratory animals.

Again, be careful of what you are consuming!
