Smelling Food Can Help Stop Craving Unhealthy Snacks

Have you heard of the saying, "eat with your eyes"? It means "the sight, odor, taste and even the sound of food all factor in one's decision to choose to eat a certain food. Let's think about the sight of food. The expression “eat with your eyes” is certainly true because when a dish is visually appealing, it's more appetizing," according to Google .

Now there is a thing having to deal with smell. A new study according to Food Insider , found that if you smell food like burgers and such, you get your sense of fulfillment without eating it and it stops your unhealthy food cravings.

This study was conducted at University Of South Florida. "The longer you spend smelling a food you have a craving for, the less you'll actually crave it — and the more weight you can potentially lose by avoiding eating it."

"The olfactory (smell) and gustatory (taste) systems are strongly interconnected. And reward centers in the brain do not distinguish between stimuli encoded by different sensory systems."

Your body isn't able to understand if you are eating the food or smelling it - to your body it's the same thing. If this is true, it looks like I will start sniffing way more food!
