Starbucks Is Testing Recyclable & Compostable Cups

Recently we talked about Starbucks' plans to get rid of plastic straws and now they are testing recyclable and compostable cups according to ABC15.

"The new cup looks just like Starbucks' current paper cup. The difference is inside, where instead of a plastic liner, a biodegradable liner serves as a barrier to make sure liquid doesn't leak out. That liner, developed by a Thailand-based company, makes the cup compostable in commercial composting facilities, which are rare."

These cups are being tested in 5 places including New York, SF, Seattle, Vancouver and London.

Only downside is, Starbucks has to believe that consumers will throw out their cups in recycles instead of trash. That job is up to us!
